The Florida Gators are set to host a list of transfer portal defenders

The Florida Gators have recently acquired four players through the transfer portal and are preparing to host more once the ‘Contact Period’ for transfers begins on January 3rd.

The anticipated list of visitors for the Gators is filled with targets primarily focused on the defensive side of the ball, especially in the secondary.

Here is a preview of the visitors currently expected:



Cashius Howell, EDGE (Bowling Green)

  • Tied for first in the MAC with 9.5 sacks during 2023 season
  • Logged 10.5 tackles for loss
  • According to PFF College, created 41 pressures, which ranked as the fourth-most pressures in the MAC
  • Two seasons of eligibility remaining
  • Offered, visits January 3rd

Jaden Voisin, Safety (South Alabama)

  • In 2023, accounted for 71 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions, seven pass break ups, and a forced fumble
  • In 2022, accounted for 79 tackles, six tackles for loss, two interceptions, five pass break ups, and a forced fumble
  • 156 tackles, six interceptions, and three forced fumbles in his career
  • One season of eligibility remaining
  • Offered, no longer visiting

DJ Douglas, Safety (Tulane)

  • Spent two years at Alabama as a walk on
  • Transferred to Tulane for the 2021 season and played in 36 games contributing 78 tackles, four interceptions, and seven passes defended
  • In 2023, accounted for 54 total tackles and three interceptions
  • One season of eligibility remaining
  • Offered, visits January 3rd

John Humphrey, Cornerback (USC/UCLA)

  • Committed to USC after entering the transfer portal from UCLA
  • In 2023, recorded 31 tackles, forced two fumbles, and had two interceptions.
  • Played four seasons at UCLA and played in a total of 54 games, recording 76 total tackles, 54 solo, five passes defended, and two interceptions
  • Offered, visits January 3rd



Kam Alexander, Cornerback (UTSA)

  • Finished the 2023 season with 34 tackles, 17 passes defended, and two interceptions
  • Named All-AAC first team while leading the conference for passes defended and 10th in the country for passes defended
  • MVP of the Frisco Bowl
  • Transferred to UTSA from Sam Houston where he appeared in 32 career games. Posted 52 total tackles, 41 solo stops, six tackles for loss, three interceptions and 16 pass breakups
  • For career, 45 games played with 14 starts, 86 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, 36 passes defended, and five interceptions
  • One season of eligibility remaining
  • Offered, visits January 5th

Marcus Ratcliffe, Defensive Back (UCLA/San Diego State)

  • Committed to UCLA in early December after entering transfer portal from San Diego State
  • Started as a true freshman and finished with 50 tackles and an interception
  • Played safety, nickel, and linebacker for San Diego State
  • Three years of eligibility remaining
  • Offered by Florida, visit TBD

Kendrick Simpkins, Safety (Western Kentucky)

  • In 2023, amassed 51 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles
  • All-Conference USA second team in 2023
  • Totaled 42 tackles for the 2022 season
  • Two seasons of eligibility remaining
  • Offered by Florida, visit TBD
