David Waters
Hello everyone, I am a Florida Gators fan who was raised in Georgia. I grew up watching and cheering for the Steve Spurrier led Gators in the 90s, and for me, there was no better time to grow up as a Gators fan.
I graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2006 with a degree in Broadcasting. I always knew that I wanted to cover sports, but my broadcasting career took a different turn early on. After interning at ESPNU in 2006, I received a job at WJXT in Jacksonville. I was thrilled to find myself on the sidelines in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium filming football games for the station while also making my way into other roles throughout the station.
Over time, those other roles turned into more responsibility, and I eventually did little work in Gainesville and just became a fan again for a few years while also trying to build a family. I married my wife Kaili in 2009, and we had our first child, Hadaley, in 2014.
Once things settled down, I felt the itch to get back into sports media and started freelance writing for various sites. However, I soon realized that wasn’t where I wanted to be. A lot of the coverage for Florida at the time wasn’t deep enough and was slanted towards an always optimistic look, so I just wanted to do something different.
Podcasts were just starting to get their legs when I started Gators Breakdown in August of 2016. I felt that it was time to up the game and include a video version that lived on YouTube. The response was overwhelming, and I found that I had a real passion for creating engaging and informative content for fellow Gators fans.
As the host of Gators Breakdown, I have had the pleasure of interviewing some of the biggest names in Gators football, and I am constantly working to create new and exciting content for my listeners and viewers. Whether you are a die-hard Gators fan or just a casual observer of college football, I hope that you will find something to enjoy on Gators Breakdown as are expanding into a website to hub all the great content.
