The Florida Gators have kicked off their Class of 2026 recruiting class on a high note with the commitment of four-star quarterback Will Griffin. The Gators, the team Griffin supported as a child, were quick to offer the 6-foot-3, 225-pound quarterback from Tampa.

Griffin has showcased impressive stats in his first couple of years at Jesuit High School. As a sophomore, he completed nearly 68% of his passes, going 244-361 for 3,404 yards, earning 34 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. In his freshman year, he achieved a near 57% passing, going 106-187 for 1,653 yards, 18 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.

Will Griffin’s Hudl Highlights

Though not the deciding factor, Griffin confessed his childhood admiration for the Gators, given his father attended the University of Florida. Will mentioned having attended many Florida games growing up. Griffin visited the Gators more than any other school during the recruiting process. He had an extensive view of their operations. Earlier this spring, he observed the Gators on the practice field, focusing on how the quarterbacks have developed under Billy Napier, Ryan O’Hara, and Russ Callaway. The school emphasizes player development, and Griffin noticed the significant improvement in both Graham Mertz and DJ Lagway since they arrived on campus.

Griffin has attracted attention from top programs like Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, Ohio State, and more. The 247Sports Composite currently ranks him as the Nation’s No. 89 overall prospect and the No. 7 quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class. According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Griffin is the No. 8 quarterback and No. 104 recruit nationally.
