Grimsley needed to make a decision quickly to participate in the spring semester and be available for the Gators’ spring practice. Unlike D’antre Robinson, another recruit from the class of 2024 who also chose Florida on Friday after being released from his letter of intent from Texas, Grimsley had to enter the transfer portal because Alabama did not release him.
A fast and tall athlete, the top 200 cornerback recruit is Florida’s 20th high school commit. As he hasn’t yet played any college football, he is going to be included in the normal high school recruit rankings from this perspective. With this addition, the Gators now have the 13th ranked class according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. When considering both high school and transfer portal recruits, Florida’s class is now 12th. Grimsley is the sixth highest commit of the 2024 class, bringing the total to eight players from the state of Florida in the class.
