Robinson had previously expressed that the University of Florida (UF) was his dream school. However, during his initial recruitment, he chose Texas. Despite Florida’s persistent efforts until Early Signing Day, Robinson stayed with the Texas Longhorns’ 2024 class. His decision to leave Texas might have been influenced by defensive line coach Bo Davis’ move to LSU.

Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 310 pounds, Robinson, from Orlando’s Jones High School, is a standout in this cycle. His size, unusual in high school corridors, contributes to his uniqueness and high demand. He had a strong junior season, disrupting interior offensive linemen across Central Florida and controlling run lanes.

In his senior year in 2023, Robinson recorded 79 tackles, 10 sacks, and 19 tackles for loss. As a junior in 2022, he made 89 total tackles, 18 tackles for a loss, and nine sacks.

ANALYSIS

Reviewing his Hudl highlights, Robinson demonstrates a keen understanding of the game. His mobility is impressive for a defensive tackle, enabling him to track plays and maintain optimal positioning. His burst off the line is commendable, as is his patience in staying in the running lane to make plays.

Robinson can disrupt plays from the middle, forcing the quarterback to escape the pocket and run into a sack. He also plays some end at the high school level, and although this may not be a significant part of his role at UF, he appreciates Florida’s proposal to possibly move him around up front.

Another highlight is Robinson’s knack for tracking plays down behind the line of scrimmage. He can both stuff the run and pursue for a tackle for loss. He’s not just passively waiting for the play to come to him; he’s proactively seeking to make the play himself or enable his teammates to do so.

His understanding of the game is evident in how he plays each play. He exhibits nice first steps, never gives up on a play, and shows patience and pursuit when needed. Even if he doesn’t always succeed initially, he continually strives to remain active in the play.

CLASS NOTES

Robinson’s commitment increases Florida’s total to 19 high school players for the 2024 class, pushing the class to 15th in the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. The class now consists of two five stars, 10 four stars, and seven three stars. Robinson gives Florida its seventh prospect out of the state of Florida.
