On Monday, three-star defensive lineman Michai Boireau announced his decommitment from the University of Florida via Twitter:
“I WOULD LIKE TO START BY THANKING THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA, AND ITS STAFF FOR BLESSING ME AND MY FAMILY WITH A GREAT OPPORTUNITY I REALLY APPRECIATE COACH SPENCER AND COACH JAMES FOR RECRUITING ME. AFTER TALKING TO MY FAMILY AND LOVED ONES AND LOTS OF CONSIDERATION. I WILL BE DECOMMITTING FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA. THIS IS A HUGE DECISION AND THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS I FIND THE BEST PLACE ACADEMICALLY AND ATHLETICALLY. FOLLOWING ME DECOMMITTING MY RECRUITMENT IS 100% OPEN.”
Boireau is from Hampton, GA, and had originally committed to Florida on June 19th. Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 390 pounds, he is ranked as the 706th overall player and 72nd defensive lineman in the class of 2024, according to 247 Sports. On3 ranks Boireau as the 717th overall player and the 67th defensive lineman. Georgia is now thought to be the front-runner for Boireau’s pledge.
