The Florida Gators didn’t have to look far for their next Class of 2025 commitment, Tae’shaun Gelsey from Riverside High in Jacksonville. Gelsey, currently a wide receiver at Riverside, is seen by the Gators as a receiving tight end due to his 6 foot 4, 215-pound stature.

As a wide receiver, 247 Sports rates him as a three-star player, ranking 548th overall in the country and 85th as a wide receiver. The On3 Industry Rankings rate Gelsey as a tight end, placing him 41st in the nation and the 708th player overall in the Class of 2025. Auburn, Kentucky, UCF, Wake Forest, and Tulane were also contenders in this recruitment, but Gelsey chose to stay close to home. He visited Florida’s campus multiple times in recent years, including this spring for Junior Days and spring practice. Gelsey received his Florida offer back in mid May, but communication has been ongoing for a while.

In 2023, Gelsey recorded 48 catches for 859 yards and nine touchdowns as a wide receiver. The previous year, he made 32 catches for 503 yards and scored five touchdowns.
In addition to playing basketball, Gelsey’s football highlights clearly showcase his athleticism. His potential as a pass-catching tight end is evident as he transitions from being a fluid receiver.
Gelsey is the eighth commit for the Class of 2025, joining four-star edge Jalen Wiggins from Tallahassee’s James Rickards, four-star running back Waltez Clark from Tampa’s Plant, four-star wide receiver Joshua Moore from West Broward, four-star defensive lineman Jeramiah McCloud from Havana’s Gadsden County, three-star tight end Micah Jones out of Mississippi, three-star running back Chad Gasper from Texas, and three-star punter Hayden Craig from Maine.
