Cornerback Cormani McClain is finally part of the Florida Gators football team.

After his official visit to Gainesville, McClain committed to the Gators, becoming a key transfer recruit for the coaching staff. His visit to UF’s campus this week was his second in May, following an unofficial visit last Friday where he spent considerable time with head coach Billy Napier.
McClain’s initial recruitment by the Gators is well-documented. While he was expected to choose Florida for most of the recruiting process, McClain surprisingly opted for Miami over Florida. However, McClain did not sign with the Hurricanes during the Early Signing Period. Instead, he ultimately flipped and signed with Colorado and Deion Sanders.
In his freshman season with the Buffaloes, McClain played in nine games, starting four. He made 13 total tackles (including one for a loss) and deflected two passes.
McClain will join Florida as a preferred walk-on due to the program’s full scholarship capacity. He has three years of eligibility remaining.
Now standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 165 pounds, McClain was initially part of the Class of 2023. He was ranked as the 13th overall player and top-ranked cornerback in the country according to the 247 Sports and On3 Industry Rankings.
McClain is the 14th transfer for the Class of 2024 for the Florida Gators.
