The Florida Gators have acquired another player from the transfer portal. On Monday, Trikweze Bridges, a defensive back from Oregon, has committed to join Florida. This marks the third transfer portal commitment for Florida in the past two days, following the additions of Joey Slackman, a defensive lineman from Pennsylvania, and Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson, an offensive tackle previously from San Diego State.

Standing at 6 feet 3 inches and weighing 200 pounds, Bridges will transition from playing cornerback for the Ducks to playing safety for the Gators. His most impressive season so far was in 2022, where he started all 13 games and recorded 49 tackles (1 tackle for loss), three interceptions, and a forced fumble while playing as a cornerback. In that same season, Bridges played over 700 snaps, which was the third-highest on the Ducks’ defense. In the following 2023 season, he played in a backup role and contributed 16 tackles and three pass breakups.
Bridges, who has one season of eligibility remaining, committed to the Gators on Monday. He will begin his classes in Gainesville in early January. Prior to his commitment, Bridges announced his intentions to enter the NCAA transfer portal on December 5 and received scholarship offers from various schools including Florida, Kentucky, Temple, Houston, Washington, Pitt, Vanderbilt, and Baylor.
