The Florida Gators’ running back room has been a hotbed of talent development, and coach Jabbar Juluke’s impact is once again evident with the emergence of freshman sensation Jadan Baugh. In a recent game against Kentucky, Baugh showcased his potential by tying a program record with five rushing touchdowns, a feat previously achieved by Gator legends Tim Tebow and Trey Burton.

Juluke’s reputation for nurturing young talent is well-established. Head coach Billy Napier praised Juluke’s approach, stating, “Jabbar… has a unique, sincere care for players. He does a great job mentoring the players, and runs a tight ship… He does a nice job really modeling what you would want from the players, and then he holds them very accountable.”
This mentorship has clearly paid dividends for Baugh, who in his first career start, ran for 106 yards on 22 carries. The young running back credits the leadership in the room for his rapid development, saying, “Montrell… brought me in and put his arms around me and told me like I’m a good player but I got to keep working.”
Juluke’s success isn’t limited to Florida. Napier highlighted his track record: “I think obviously at Louisiana, we had three NFL backs. We were very productive there with the other players that we had, Chris Smith, Emani Bailey, not to mention the three NFL players, Trey Ragas, Elijah Mitchell, Raymond Calais.”
Baugh’s performance earned him SEC Freshman of the Week honors, making him the first Gator to receive this recognition since Arlis Boardingham in October 2023. This achievement is a testament to Juluke’s ability to prepare young players for the big stage.
The culture fostered by Juluke in the running back room is evident in Baugh’s mature approach to the game. When asked about his confidence after the breakout performance, Baugh responded, “Gives me confidence, but also gives my team, too, as in we know we could have been did this as an offense and a defense.”
As the Gators look ahead to tougher competition, Baugh’s development under Juluke’s guidance will be crucial. With a combination of talent, coaching, and a strong team culture, the Florida Gators’ running game appears to be in capable hands for the foreseeable future.
