The Florida Gators have gained another commitment from the transfer portal with offensive lineman Jason Zandamela. Zandamela initially signed with USC for the recent 2024 class, but after only a few months in California, he has returned to Florida. After his visit to Florida last weekend, he picked the Gators over UCF. He had entered the transfer portal on April 16th.

Zandamela, a former rugby player, spent a significant part of his youth in Mozambique and is relatively new to football. However, his limited experience didn’t prevent recruiting services from recognizing his talents. He only began playing football during his sophomore year of high school at Clearwater Academy International. According to the 247 Sports Composite, Zandamela was rated as a four-star prospect, ranked 125th overall in the 2024 class, and listed as the fourth-best interior offensive lineman. The On3 Industry Ranking similarly rated Zandamela as a four-star player, ranked him 118th overall, and placed him as the sixth-best interior offensive lineman.
Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 285 pounds, Zandamela played center for Clearwater Academy International. His strong base and powerful upper body make his initial punch effective. Despite his weight, he demonstrates good mobility in all directions and is adept at targeting linebackers, indicating a fit for specific offensive schemes. His fluid movements, explosive hips, and large frame mark him as a promising interior offensive line prospect for the 2024 recruitment cycle, albeit one who may require a few years of development.
Zandamela is the 13th player to join the Florida Gators via the transfer portal. Like cornerback Jameer Grimsley, he was added as a transfer despite being a high school recruit for the Class of 2024. Zandamela joins Fletcher Westphal, Mike Williams, Noel Portnjagin, Marcus Mascoll, and the recently reclassified Enoch Wangoy as freshman offensive linemen in Florida’s Class of 2024. Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson and Devon Manuel were also added to this class via the transfer portal.
